Battalion Chief Mike Hayek
Mike Hayek has over 30 years of experience in emergency response, beginning in 1993 as a paramedic in San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County. During that time, Mike worked as a field training officer, a paramedic preceptor, and an ambulance supervisor.
In 2002, Mike was hired by the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District, where he worked as a firefighter paramedic and worked his way up to Battalion Chief of Operations and EMS.
Mike holds an associate degree in nutrition, a bachelor's degree in emergency medical service management, and a master's degree in public administration with an emphasis on emergency management. In his spare time, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, his daughter, Nola, and his chocolate lab, Bear, in Los Olivos, California.
